The brief descriptions below are designed to familiarize you with our staff's training, professional credentials and work experience.
Thomas Skleba , D.D.S.
Dr. Skleba did his undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, graduating in 1980 with a degree in Biology. In 1984 he earned his DDS degree from Loyola University graduating 2nd in his class and earning the title of Salutatorian. After graduation he served one year as a hospital dental resident and received a General Practice Residency certificate from Illinois Masonic Hospital in 1985. Dr. Skleba spent the next 10 years on teaching staff at Illinois Masonic Hospital working with graduate students in the Dental Residency Program and practicing handicapped dentistry with the Special Patient Care Program at the hospital. This experience included regular visits to the hospital operating room for more advanced cases done under general anesthesia. Between 1985 and 1989 Dr. Skleba was also an associate in private practice in Skokie, IL.
In 1988 Dr. Skleba formed a partnership with Dr. Ken Cox in Cary, IL, known today as Cary Dental Associates, LLC. The practice changed locations in 2001 but has remained in Cary since its inception. Dr. Skleba has been a volunteer for the ADA Give Kids a Smile program since 2004 as well the Donated Dental Services charity that provides care for the handicapped and elderly. Professional memberships include the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, McHenry County Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry; (an organization dedicated to continuing education).
Patty Behrends, R.D.H.

Patty joined Cary Dental Associates in 1991. She attended Southern Methodist University and completed her dental hygiene degree at Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago in 1978. She received additional training in local anesthesia at Harper College in 2002. Patty is currently affiliated with the McHenry County Dental Society and the Illinois State Dental Society. She is also an active member of St Ann's Episcopal Church in Woodstock, Daughters of the American Revolution (Kiswaukee Valley Chapter) and the Star Motorcycle Touring Chapter 193, Woodstock.
Debbie Zordan, R.D.H.
Deb began working for Cary Dental Associates in 2007. She graduated from Harper College in 1983 with a degree in Dental Hygiene, where she served as Program Chairman. She was previously a member of the North Suburban Dental Hygienist's Association from whom she received a scholarship for academics and community service. She completed her continuing educational training for administration of local anesthesia from Harper College in 2006.
She has over 20 years experience working in a periodontal specialty practice, and 9 years experience with an orthodontic office. She has volunteered her services at Little City Home for the Handicapped in Palatine, and at the McHenry County Cooperative Dental Clinic in Woodstock. She has been a resident and active member of the Cary community for 20 years.
Wendy Layshock, R.D.H.
Wendy joined Cary Dental Associates in 2001. She attended McHenry County College prior to completing her Dental Hygiene degree at Harper College in 1998. She received additional training in local anesthesia at Harper College in 2002. Wendy has been a member of the ADHA (American Dental Hygienist's Association) and of the North Suburban Dental Hygienist's Society, a component of the ADHA, since 1999. She continues to serve as a member of the Student Advisory Board at Harper College since 2000 and has volunteered for the the ADA's Give Kids a Smile Day.
