At this beautiful time of year, we hope you are enjoying the autumn foliage, spending time with loved ones, and filling your days with the joy of the holidays. This is the time of year for good food and beautiful smiles—which is why it’s more important than ever to take care of your teeth.
While celebrating Thanksgiving, don’t forget to be mindful of your dental hygiene. Brush and floss carefully to avoid any problems that might arise from your Thanksgiving dinner. Many traditional Thanksgiving foods like sweet potatoes, pie, and cranberry sauce are heavy in sugar, and eating them in large quantities can give the bacteria in your mouth a significant boost. Make sure to pay extra attention to cleaning away plaque in order to avoid forming dental calculus. Remember, brushing doesn’t remove calculus; a little brushing even on a busy day like Thanksgiving is always easier than treating the problems that will otherwise develop. Also bear in mind that wine and coffee can stain tooth enamel.
If your teeth do trouble you this holiday season, we will be glad to help you when we reopen after Thanksgiving. Call our office during business hours to schedule your exam, or request an appointment online.
This Thanksgiving, we at Cary Dental Associates are grateful for our wonderful patients! We wish you a wonderful holiday and hope you’ll keep smiling brightly.
Warmly,
Dr. Skleba, Dr. Brewer, & The Cary Dental Associates Team
