Preventive Dentistry Services in Cary, IL

If you want a surefire way to improve your family’s dental health, shift your focus to preventative dental care. In addition to warding off decay, you might be able to cut down your dental expenses and keep your family comfortable. Here at Cary Dental Associates, we believe in providing state-of-the-art preventative care to keep issues from forming in the first place. Here are just a few of the ways we can help you to avoid dental problems.

Cleanings & Prevention

Don’t wait until you have a discolored, damaged, or severely sore tooth. Come in for regular cleanings to ward off decay. During your dental checkup, our hygienists will gently clean and polish your teeth. Afterwards, Dr. Brewer or Dr. Skleba will evaluate your dental X-Rays, and perform another examination to check for hidden damage. If they discover any decay, it will be addressed in a follow-up appointment. If you experience emergency dental problems, the issues will be addressed as soon as possible.

Diagnodent Tool

The earlier cavities are found, the easier they are to treat. Because cavities can pave the way for serious dental abcesses or dental fractures, we use the diagnodent tool. This small electric dental instrument uses a laser to carefully scan and examine the surfaces of your teeth. Patients love the diagnodent tool because it never touches your teeth, so you won’t have to deal with painful sticks from sharp dental instruments. Dentists love the diagnodent tool because it can spot minuscule cavities or sub-surface issues long before they transform into larger problems.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride is crucial for keeping your dental enamel strong and healthy, which is why we offer fluoride treatments in our office. Over time, your dental enamel can lose essential minerals like calcium and phosphate, which makes your teeth more susceptible to bacterial attacks and corrosion. However, fluoride strengthens dental enamel, so that your teeth are more resistant to the damage bacteria can cause. During your fluoride treatment, Dr. Brewer or Dr. Skleba will ask you to flush your mouth for a certain period of time with a gentle fluoride rinse.

Sealants

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could paint an invisible barrier onto your teeth to ward off decay? Although it might sound like something out of a science fiction novel, sealants work this way. Sealants are a taste-free, odor-free plastic film that is painted onto teeth. In addition to keeping bacteria from harming your teeth, sealant treatments can also fill in fine crevices, so that food and grime doesn’t accumulate and cause problems. Sealants are typically recommended for children and teenagers, but they can also be used for adults who have problems with back molars.

When To Make An Appointment

We encourage our adult patients to come in for a checkup twice a year. If you are wondering when your last appointment was, give us a call and we can look it up for you. Kids should visit the dentist before their first birthday or when they get their first tooth, and then twice a year after that. We offer a large array of appointment times to accommodate even the busiest schedule.
